David Wall and Charles Downie Hystrichospheres are described from the Permian of Britain for the first time and are allocated to four genera and eleven species, two of which are new. Closest comparison is with other Permian assemblages but many of the hystrichospheres present appear to be virtually indistinguishable from forms known to occur in beds ranging from the Ordovician to the Eocene in age.
