Accommodation, Food and Drink

Delegates are responsible for booking their own accommodation. There are no 'preferred' hotels, but delegates with few financial constraints may wish to consider the Millenium Gloucester Hotel which is hosting the annual dinner, and which is less than 15 minutes walk from the campus. Rooms here will cost £144 inc VAT / night, with double-occupancy rooms costing £156 inc. VAT / night.. Breakfast is included.

Public transport in London is efficient, relatively cheap, and runs almost 24 hours. A one-day travel card allowing limitless tube and bus travel is currently £12/day, and single bus journeys fares are £1.50; payment can be made via contactless cards. Accommodation up to 30 minutes travel from campus will hence be very viable - use Google Maps for estimates of travel time.

Food and Drink Locations

Nearby places to eat & drink in the evening have been collated into a handy pdf document:

Accommodation

Some accomodation suggestions follow.

1. AirBnB

AirBnB is an effective way to find accommodation in London; there is a wide range available to suit most budgets, and an AirBnB room can be cheaper than standard budget hotels, and as cheap as a hostel room in some cases. Suggested locations, within 30 minutes travel of Imperial College, are Fulham, Hammersmith, Vauxhall, Battersea, Putney and Earl's Court.

2. Hostels

There are lots of hostels in central London if cost is the most important factor. Try www.hostelworld.com for a centralised search and booking facility. Most offer single beds in dorm rooms at around £20 per night. There are options for private ensuite twin rooms, but these are up to £70 per night. We would advise checking websites and reviews, as standards vary a lot. Also consider AirBnB - see below - which can be as cheap as hostels.

Youth Hostel Association

There are four YHA hostels within a reasonable distance of  Imperial College. The cheapest beds are in dorm rooms with shared facilities. There are options for private double rooms at all locations but these are ~£70 per night.

There is a huge range of hotel choices that can be booked through the usual online resources such as booking.comtrivago, and tripadvisor. You are recommended to check reviews and which facilities are included. Below is a list of average priced hotels within a reasonable distance to Imperial College. This will require the completion of a short booking enquiry form, after which availability and rates will be sent to you.

Choices include The Queen’s gate (15 min walk) The Kensington 5* (10 mins walk) and many more, see full details on the Visitor’s accommodation page on the Imperial College Website.
