Abstract

Schopfitheca boulayoides gen. et sp. nov., a new probable pteridosperm microsporangiate organ from an 'ironstone' concretion from the Mazon Creek area of Illinois is described as a pubescent, clavate-pyriform structure with large spores of the Monoletes (= Schopfipollenites) type.
