  • Your abstract will be reviewed by the committee before decisions are circulated on 17th May 2022. All submissions will be assessed in the following categories: articulation of the aims, methods, results, conclusions, Scientific significance and clarity to a non-specialist audience. Each category will be judged out of 5 and abstracts will be assessed blind
  • Abstracts are limited to one per delegate

Abstracts should be submitted through the palaeontological Association online submission form, which will become available to you after registering for the conference. Once registered as a delegate you will receive an automated email containing a unique weblink (at the bottom of the email) which will provide access to the abstract form.
Upon abstract submission you will be asked for the following information:

  • Title of presentation.
  • Authors and affiliations.

Only full talks will be considered for the keynote speaker slot.

Following acceptance of an abstract, individuals will be required to submit a pre-recorded version of their talk 2 weeks prior to the start date of the conference. Slight stylistic alterations may be made between the pre-recorded and live versions, but significant changes in content are not permitted without resubmission of the pre-recorded version.

Travel grants

There is limited funding available for travel grants to support students who are presenting their work at Progressive Palaeontology. Students with limited funding are eligible to apply for a travel grant to cover travel and accommodation to attend the conference.

The committee will be accepting applications from students both within the UK and abroad. If you wish to apply please attach a statement (max. 150 words) justifying your need of it in an email to Progpal2022@palass.org. This should include estimated costs of travel and accommodation as well as a statement explaining your financial need for the grant. Students can apply to be funded up to a maximum of £150 depending on where they are travelling from.

Travel grant applications will be assessed on the rationale of this statement, the financial need of the applicant and the merit of the accompanying abstract(s).
