The Micropalaentological Society Foraminifera and Nannofossil Groups Joint Meeting 2016: Foraminifera and Nannofossils - From Life Strategies to the Geological Record

Angers University, France

The TMS is delighted to announce that the next Foraminifera and Nannofossil spring meeting will be hosted by the Laboratory CNRS UMR 6112 LPG-BIAF Recent and Fossil Bio-Indicators, at Angers University, France. The program will encompass oral presentations on selected micropaleontological topics, posters sessions, a conference dinner, a field excursion, and a thematic workshop day. The theme for this year’s event is “From life strategies to the geological record”.

64th Symposium of Vertebrate Palaeontology and Comparative Anatomy (SVPCA 2016) and the 25th Symposium of Palaeontological Preparation and Conservation (SPPC 2016)

Liverpool, UK

The SPPC (22nd August) and the SVPCA (22-26th August) will this year be held in Liverpool, UK. The symposia will be held at the Foresight Centre, University of Liverpool. SPPC will include a tour of the geology and zoology collections at the Liverpool World Museum, and SVPCA will include a post-conference trip to Chester Zoo on the 26th August.

1st International Meeting of Early-stage Researchers in Palaeontology-XIV Encuentro de Jóvenes Investigadores en Paleontología

Alpuente (Valencia, Spain)

For the last 13 years, young researchers in Palaeontology have organized an annual meeting in the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal and Spain). This event has gathered pre-graduate, post-graduate, PhD students and post-doctoral researchers, helping to develop their skills in the early-stages of their research career.

XIV International Palynological Congress and the X International Organization of Palaeobotanists Congress (IPC XIV/ IOPC X 2016)

Salvador, Brazil

This will be the first time that both the International Palynological Congress (IPC) and the International Organisation of Palaeobotany Conference (IOPC) will gather together in the southern hemisphere. Several field trips are being planned within Bahia State and to the National Monument of fossilized Tocantins trees (Bielndia/Filadlfia, Tocantins State).

Symposium proposals can be submitted until 31 October 2015.

9th International Meeting of the Society of Avian Paleontology and Evolution

Diamante, Argentina

The meeting will be hosted by and held at the Centro de Investigaciones Cientficas y Transferencia de Tecnologia a la Produccion de Diamante (CICYTTP-CONICET). It will be dedicated to Larry Martin (USA), in order to honour his memory and his outstanding paleornithological contributions. The schedule includes a fossil identification session, pre- and post-conference excursions.

Registration deadline 29 February 2016. Abstract deadline 30 June 2016.

Palaeo Down Under 2 (PDU2)

Adelaide, Australia

A full conference programme is proposed, covering all aspects of palaeontology and associated disciplines. Dedicated symposia on the Ediacaran and Cambrian systems will be a highlight of the programme, under the auspices of the respective International Subcommissions on Stratigraphy, focussing on recent rapid advances in our understanding in these areas. The conference will include guest keynote lectures, general and thematic sessions, symposia and posters.

XIV Annual Meeting of the European Association of Vertebrate Palaeontologists (EAVP)

Haarlem, The Netherlands

The XIV Annual Meeting of the European Association of Vertebrate Paleontology will be held in Haarlem, The Netherlands, in the beautiful historical building of Teylers museum. With a confirmed symposium on early hominid evolution, and another on fossil ethics, as well as field trips to either Pleistocene North Sea beds or the Type Maastrichtian, there should be something for everybody.

There will be plenty of social events, so many opportunities for networking, too. Finally, the Teylers collections will be open to visitors on demand.
