Lectotypes are chosen for certain Caradoc brachiopod species of zonal value, and their stratigraphical horizons and associated faunas are reviewed. Paucicrura sowerbii nom. nov. is proposed for the Ordovician syntype of Orthis canalis J. de C. Sowerby, 1839.
