Abstract

An imperfect humerus found in the Weald Clay (Lower Cretaceous) of Henfield, Sussex, represents the earliest British bird known, Wyleyia valdensis gen. et sp. nov. It is compared with other reptile and bird humeri from the Jurassic and Cretaceous.
