Abstract

An Early Miocene (Burdigalian) hermit crab preserved within a struthiolariid gastropod shell is described. The specimen, here designated Pagurus difdenensis sp. nov., has close affinities with the Recent species P. spinulimanus (Miers) which is common in New Zealand waters.
